2017 World Press Photo Exhibition in Auckland
The World Press Photo Exhibition can be seen from 1-30 July 2017 at the Smith & Caughey’s Queen Street, Auckland CBD. This traveling exhibition, unique in its kind, is the result of a worldwide annual contest on press photography and is brought to Auckland by the The Rotary Club of Auckland.
2017 Photo Contest
The World Press Photo competition is the world’s leading contest for professional press photographers, photojournalists and documentary photographers, setting the standard for the profession. The 2017 contest drew entries from around the world: 5,034 photographers from 126 countries submitted 80,408 images. The jury gave prizes in eight categories to 45 photographers from 25 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Iran, Italy, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Syria, New Zealand, Turkey, UK, and USA.
